• Is my data safe during the transfer?

  Absolutely! We will clone and move your original site’s complete database and media files. Your original site remains intact and in place.

  We will notify you only after the new site is running correctly and ask you to cancel your old hosting account.

• How long does the transfer take?

  The time required for the transfer depends on several factors, including the size of your site and the speed of your current hosting server. Backing up and physically moving your media files can take some time on larger sites. On average, it takes much less than 30 minutes to transfer 1GB of data physically. However, configuration and DNS propagation to update the IP address of the new server may take longer and can, in extreme cases, take up to 48 hours. Thankfully it is normally done within a few hours.

• Which files are transferred?

  All WordPress core files, plugin files, theme files, media files, and database files will be transferred.

• Can you fix my broken site?

  We can fix your broken site, but not as part of the migration service. Please see our maintenance services for more information.

• Can you transfer my domain?

  Yes, we can transfer your domain after the site migration to avoid interference. We will need access to your current registrar login details to set up the transfer to our registrar. Contact us for more information.

• What is DNS, and why does it need updating?

  DNS stands for Domain Name System. It translates human-readable domain names into numerical IP addresses that computers can understand and use to communicate with each other.

  If you don’t update the DNS records after transferring the website, visitors will continue to be directed to the old hosting provider’s servers. Once we update your DNS records, the information will propagate around the internet automatically. However, this may take up to 48 hours.

• Do you migrate WordPress multi-sites?

  Yes, we can migrate WordPress multisites to the same domain name on our hosting platform, but not to a different domain, subdomain, or multisite network subdivision.

• Can you transfer email accounts during the site migration?

  We will migrate your website outside of your agreed core hours and put WooCommerce into maintenance mode during the migration process to avoid losing orders placed on the old site. A message on the homepage informing your customers of an upcoming maintenance window is the best way to let them know.

• Is there a limit on the WordPress site size?

  No, there is no limit to the size of your site, however once you get towards 200Gb then things can become more challenging, purely because of the ammount of data to process.

  The larger the site, the longer it will take to migrate.
